Parnassus

a mountain of Phocis, on of the highest in Europe, anciently called Lar- | na os, from the boat of Deucalion raved, which was carried there in the universal deluge. It received the name of Parna us from Parna us the son of Neptune, and was sacred to the Muses, and to Apollo and Bacchus. ~ The mountain, according to the poets, had only ‘two tops, called Hyampea and Tethorea, on one of which the city of Delphi was situated.
