Forestry Schools

Instruction in forestry science is given either in polytechnic schools, as at Zurich, in connection with university courses, as at Gie en, in special schools, as at Eberswalde, Germany, or in connection with the study of agriculture, as at St. Petersburg. The Forest Academy of Eberswalde was started in Berlin 1821, and moved to its present location in 1830, for proximity of the forests. The instruction extends over two winters and three summers, and includes the fundamental sciences, with some legal studies and the construction of roads and the special forestry studies. It has ab. 150 students. There are 40 schools in Europe; America has none.
