PUSEY

THE TRACTARIAN, was born in 1800, and became a Fellow of Christ Church, Oxford, in 1824. The " Tracts for the Times” began to appear in 1833; but, though the movement subsequently was given the name of Puseyism, Dr. Pusey was not prominently connected with it until he wrote the famous tract on Baptism in 1835-6. In 1843 be was suspended from preaching for three years, which brought his name very prominently before the public ana, when Newman became a pervert to Rome, Pusey; became the head of the Tractarian movement He died in 1882.
