Charles William (son of Charles Wm. Peach, yeoman). b. Wansford, North amp tons hire 30 Sept. 1800; a coastguardman at Weybourne, Norfolk Jany. 1824, at Gorran Haven in Cornwall to 1845; employed in the customs at Fowey, 1845–9, at Peter head 1849–53, at Wick 1853, retired on a pension 1861; discovered many new species of sponges, cælenterates and molluscs; discovered fish remains in the Devonian rocks of the south west, and fo ils which determined the age of the quartzites of Gorran Haven, and of the Durne limestone of Sutherlandshire; received Neill medal from royal society of Edinburgh 1875; author of 71 papers. d.
