Water-tight-bulkhead

A bulkhead, which will withstand a pre ure of water. All tranversal bulkheads below the deck in iron and steel sailing ve els and steamers, are supposed to be watertight. A sluice cock or valve is usually fitted at a watertight-bulkhead, for the purposes, either of shutting the water off, or allowing it to flow towards the pumps.
