[Formed from naphthalene with the omi ion of certain letters (1); seuphonic, and -ic .] naphthesic-acid, s. Chem.: C20H6O3. According to Laurent, this acid is obtained by treating naphthalene with acid chromate of pota ium, water, and sulphuric acid. It forms rhombic needles, melting below 100°, and subliming at a higher temperature.
