A large branch of the portal v. which returns the blood from the spleen, the pancreas, the duodenum, part of the rectum, the descending colon, and the larger part of the stomach and omentum; formed by the union of several ve els which emerge from the spleen. It receives the gastric and left gastro-epiploic v's and a number of unnamed ve els from the intestines, etc. stylo mastoid v. A v. accompanying the stylo mastoid artery and emptying into the posterior auricular v. subclavian v. A large v., the continuation of the axillary v., extending from the upper margin of the serratus antic us major to the inner end of the clavicle, where it unites with the internal jugular v. to form the innominate y. It receives the anterior and external jugularularand v. A the branch vertebral v's. axillary of the subscap-v.
