Palanquin

(pal-ăn-ken'.) (From Hind. pal kee, a litter.] In the E. Indies, a sort of litter or sedan chair, borne on the shoulders of 4 servants called palkeedars, 8of whom are attached to it, and who relieve each other by turns.
