the art of using skill. fully, in attack or self-defense, a Eword, rapier, or bayonet; but usually taken to mean addre in the use of the second of these weapons. In the school of fence, the foil is wielded. Fencing is much practised in Germany and some other European countries, but is not so common in the United States.
