(koo’-bé-lik), (1) Jan, b. Michle, July 5, 1880—Prague, Dec. 5, 1940; violinist; son and pupil of a Bohemian gardener; pupil for 6 years of Sevcik, Prague Cons.; studled later at Vienna; début there 1898; then toured Europe, played at Milan, London, 1900, and rgo1 America with great succe ; 1902, London Philh. Society awarded him its Beethoven medal; returned to U. S., 1935, for tour after long absence; estab. res. in Calif. (2) Rafael, his son, pianist and conductor. KucharZ (koo’-chirzh), Jn.
