Ananchytes (anangkitez)

[NL.; formation appar. irreg. and not obvious.] A genus of fo il pet a lost i cho us sea-urchins, of the family Spatangi dæ, found in the Cretaceous formation. They are of Englande south herds' crowns" and "fairy loaves," and are especially characteristic of the IMG:content-0694.png:[blocks in formation] Upper Chalk. They have a raised helmetlike form, simple ambulacra, transversed mouth, an oblong outlet. 1, A. ovatus. 2, A. tuberculatus.
