i. & t. [LATHER, 8.] A. In trans.: To form a foam as with soap and water; to froth. B. Trans.: To cover over with lather. *lăther (2), v . t . [Etym. doubtful, but probably connected with (1), or else with leather , v. (q. v.)] To beat, to thrash, to flog. ( Slang .)
