[Pref. tri-, and Eng. sacramentarian .] Church History: A controversial name given to those Reformers who maintained that the sacraments of Baptism, the Lord's Supper, and Penance were nece ary to salvation. This opinion was held by some Luther ans at Leipsic, and was advocated in England in the Institution of a Christian Man , published in 1536.
