See gage2. wire-gra (wir'grås), n. 1. A species of meadow-gra , Poa compre a, native in the Old World, naturalized in North America. It is some sis, but is well distinguished by its shorter leaves and times mistaken for the Kentucky blue-gra , Poa praten smaller dense panicle, and its flattened wiry culms which are decumbent and le tall. Also called English blue gra . 2. A valued forage gra , Eleusine Indica, perhaps native in India, now widely distributed in warm and temperate regions: it is common southward in the United States. It has thick succulent stems with radiating spikes at the summit. Also crab gra , yard - gra , and dog's - tail. 3. One of various other gra es, as the Bermuda gra , Cynodon Dactyl on (see gra ), Sporobolus junceus, and species of Aristida in the southern United States, and Paspalum fil i for me in the West Indies.
