Herbart

Johann Fried rich, a German philosopher; born at Oldenburg, May 4, 1776. <A long pedagogic career was connected chiefly with Gottingen, where he died in 1841. His atomic philosophy has many adherents, especially in America, where there is an active Herbart Society.
