Rutgers Coll. from 1851; Whig candidate for Vice-Pres. 1844.His father, FREDERICK, 1753-1804, was a revolutionary officer, and U. S. Senator 1793–96; his nephew, FREDERICK THEODORE, 1817-1885, was U. S. Senator 1866-69 and 1871-77; Sec. of State 1881-85.-Their ancestor, THE ODOR US JACOBUS, ab. 1691-1747, came from Holland 1720, and was an active mi ionary in N. J. Fremiet, EMMANUEL, b. 1824. French sculptor.
