sratha W. ystrad, a valley; perhaps connect- Scotland, a valley of considerable size, often [ stratig raph -y + -ist.] One who studies stratigraphy; a having river running through it and giving it stratigrapher. Nature, XXXVIII. 506. its distinctive appellation: as, Strathspey the valley of the Spey), Strath earn (the valley of the Earn), and Strath more (the great valley).
