Sleeping

(slep'-ing). Resting in slumber. S. -dropsy, a singular disorder seen only on the Atlantic coast of Africa, and characterized by daily paroxysms of somnolence, tending to become more and more continuous and profound until merged in fatal coma. Tts onset is gradual, commencing with a slight frontal headache. It may persist for from three months to a year or more, and always ends fatally. It is also called African Lethargy, and is said some to be only one of the manifestations of filariasis. See Myxomycetes .
