[From barberry (q.v.).] The fruit of the barberry-bush. "Barbaryne frute: Berbeum."- Prompt . Parv. bar-bas-těl, bar-bas-telle, s . [In Fr. barbastelle ; according to Aga iz, from a proper name, po ibly Barbastro in Aragon.] A bat -the Plecotus barb as tell us . It is of a deep brown colour, with the end of each hair yellow.
