Fruit of Anomirta paniculata, a powerful climbing plant of the Malay Archipelago and the Malabar coast. It is very poisonous, and as early as the 16th century was used to stupefy fish for easy capture. It is said to be sometimes employed to render beer bitter. It contains picrotoxine, a crystalline substance, very poisonous.
