[Pref.xeno-, and Gr. batrachos a frog.] Zool .: A genus of Engystomide, with one species, Xenobatrachus ophidion , from New Guinea. xen-o-çy-prid-in-a, s. pl. [Mod. Lat. xenocypris, gen it. xenocyprid ( is ); Lat. neut. pl. adj. suff.- ina.] Ichthy.: A group of Cyprinide; anal rather short; dorsal short, with a bony ray, lateral line running along the middle of the tail. There are three genera: Xenocypris and Para cant hob ram a, from China; and Mystacoleucus, from Sumatra.
