is the skins of sheep, she-goats, or other animals, stretched on a frame, separating the flesh and hair from the skin, the thickne reduced by a sharp instrument, and the surface smoothed and dried for use. The name means * paper of Pergamos’ (Asia Minor), where parchment was first used m of kids and of calves.
