Salicornia

(sal-e-kör'ne-ah.) (Bot.) A gen. of succulent marine plants, O. Chenopod i aceæ, well distinguished by their jointed stems. The various species of this genus grow abundantly on the coasts in the S. of Europe and N. of Africa, and yield a vast quantity ofsoda,much employed in making both soap and gla , whence comes the English name, Gla wort.
