JAMES GORDON, (běn'nit,) a celebrated American journalist, B. in Scotland, 1800. He became a citizen of the U. States in 1819, and founded, in 1835, the New York Herald, since become a mammoth paper in the world of journalism. D. 1872. [s. 88]
