Actinometer

(ak-ti-nom'e-ter.) (Physics.) An instrument for measuring the amount or intensity of the actinic or chemical rays of light. The term A. has also been applied to a thermometer for measuring the heating effect of direct solar rays; - also to an instrument, invented by Sir John Herschel, for measuring the intensity of the sun's heat.
