merely are not Members of the Corporation, although having acce to the „ Room ” as Brokers, Ship-Owners etc.; — no busine can be done at Lloyd’s by Non-Subscribers, unle through some one in connection with the Corporation, as a Broker, who negotiates the busine , must be either a Member or a Subscriber. The general busine is managed by a Committee of twelve Members, who appoint a Chairman havihg under their direction a Secretary, who (with a Staff of A istants working by reliefs through the day and night) conducts the correspondence with the numerous Agents, now about 1300 in all the Maritime portions of the Globe. All received news is at once furnished to Members, Subscribers etc. by posting it in the „ Room ”, and forwarded by the most expeditious means available to Insurance Companies in England and abroad, and to others entitled to the information owing to their contribution.
