Written contracts whose transferee may enforce them in his own name free from equities between prior parties, provided he takes them without notice of equities, for value and before due. The earliest form was the bill of exchange, but promi ory notes, bankers' notes, checks, corporate bonds, and other instruments have been declared negotiable.
