Asperula

(as-per' -u-lah). A genus of rubiaceous plants, of which the European woodruff (A. odorata) is an example. This plant is a fragrant aromatic, rich in coumarin, and has diaphoretic and astringent qualities. The Maitrank or Maiwein of the Germans is flavored with this herb. Unof.
