Hymen

(hi' -men). The fold of mucous membrane at the vaginal entrance. H., Imperforate, a congenital abnormality, the hymen not having an opening, and thus closing the vaginal outlet or inlet. H., Forms of: I. Bifenestrate, ox biforis, with two openings. 2. Bilobate, with two lobes. 3. Circular, with a small foramen. 4. Cribriform, with many holes. 5. Denticular, with a serrate edge. 6. Double (rare). 7. Fimbriate, with fringed edges. 8. Horseshoe, with its convexity downward. 9. Imperforate. 10. Xormal. II. Semilunar, same as IO, or normal. 12. Hymen sept us, divided acro by a slit. 13. Hymen sub sept us, covering only the anterior and posterior portions of the pa age.
