Oulu, Finland, Feb. 17, 1887; composer; studied at Helsingfors Univ. and at Music Institute there under Jarnefelt and Sibelius; also in Paris with d’Indy and in Vienna with Fuchs; 1912-14, second cond. of Helsingfors Philh.; 1914-16, cond. Wiborg Orch.; since then teacher of comp. and mem. of directorate at Helsingfors Mus.
