(Biennis, of two years' duration.) A term applied to plants which grow one year and flower the next, after which they perish; they only differ from annuals in requiring a longer period to fruit in. Most biennials, if sown early in the spring, will flower in the autumn and then perish, thus actually becoming annuals. B1ESTINGS. The name given to the first milk yielded by a cow after calving.
