(an'chu-sah.) (Bot.) A genus of plants, O. Boraginaceæ, which yields the alkanet, A, tinct or i a,whose root, thick in proportion to the size of the plant, yields a red dye, readily extracted by oil and spirits, and called anchusine. [s. 30]
