FOSTER, WILLIAM TRUFANT

(1879), an American college president, 6. at Boston, s. of William Henry and Sarah Jennie Trufant Foster. He was educated at Harvard and Columbia Univs. After being instructor in English at Bates College and later profe or in English and argumentation at Bowdoin he became president of Reed College, Portland, Ore. in 1910 in which position he remained until 1920 when he became director of the Francis D. Pollak Foundation for Economic Research.
