Hydrate

(hidrāt.) [Gr. hydōr.] (Chem.) A compound containing water, or its elements in the proportion to form water. Hydrated Salts are those which contain water of hydration or crystallization: thus ZngSO4 H2O+ 6aq. is hydrated sulphate of zinc; the 6 molecules of water are held with le tenacity than the other atom.
