CHANG-CHATI-FU

[s. 158] : A city in the province of Fo-kien, China, situated about 25 miles W. of Amoy, and po e ing an important trade in silk and some iron works. Population, about 500,000. The LMS opened a station here in 1862, which is now occupied by 7 mi ionaries, men and women (one of them a physician), and 20 native workers, men and women. Connected with the station are a college, a hospital, 8 elementary schools, and a body of 351 profe ing Christians. The RCA also has a station here (1895), with 2 mi ionary women, 17 native workers, men and women, 3 elementary schools, a high school, and 14 places of worship in the city and surrounding regions. The number of profe ing Christians connected with the station is 312. 158
