Gunpowder

The agent employed in modern Warfare to propel projectiles from guns and small-arms, and generally as the bursting-change of projectiles; for the explosion of mines; blasting purposes, etc. It consists of an intimate mechanical mixture of niter, charcoal and sulphur.
