[L., one pretends to conceal by uttering a part leaving the remainder to be understood: as, his character is such-but it is better I should not speak of that. aposiopestic (ap"ō-si-o-pes'tik), (ap"ō-si-o-pes'tik), a. [For apo siopetic, in irreg. imitation of aposiopesis.] Same as aposiopetic. [Rare.] That interjection of surprise... with the aposiopestic break after it, marked thus, Z-ds. Sterne , Tristram Shandy, iv. 27. sisadors
