Stamford

An ancient town of England, in Lincoln shire, 12 miles northwest from Peter borough. The Britons and Saxons here defeated the Picts and Scots in 449. Many of the Jews of Stamford were slain, and the whole community plundered in 1190 by those who had enlisted for the Crusade.
