While forms, operas, symphony, 5 student of theology, studied mus. poems, concertos for pi. and with Stem and produced succe ful opera ( FleureUe 1864) and turned Oskar, viola player, b Tabor, to music; after further study in Mar. 26, 1874. Pupil o.i Leipzig, was chorusmaster and condr. and Bennewitz at Prague at several theatres there; composed member of Bohemian Quar- 12 operas, of which Der Ratten jan ger (with K. Hoffmann, Suk, and von Hameln and Der Trompeter von 1891-1906; condr. Bohemian Sakkzngen have been extremely pop in Vienna and London, of ular, especially m Germany; though Philharm.
