drain curb (drankerb)

A circular cai on used to support the earth in sinking a shaft. It is loaded with masonry, and gradually sinks through the removal of the earth below it. It forms the base of the shaft-lining. drainer (drā'nėr), n. [Early mod. E. also drayn er.] 1. One who drains; one who constructs channels for draining land: as, a ditcher and drainer.
