Grimes (grimz), James Wilson

Born at Deertrate at Renchen, where he died. His principal work, and ing, N. H., Oct. 20, 1816: died at Burlington, Iowa, Feb. 7, 1872. An American politician, governor of Iowa 1854-58, and Republican United States senator from Iowa 1859-69. He was one of the few Republican senators who voted against the con Grimes, Old. He the most important of its cla in German literature, is the romance "Der abenteurliche Simplici imus Teutsch, das ist: Beschreibung des Lebens eines Seltzamen Vagantens turesome Simplici imus: That is, Description of the Life genannt Melchior Sternfels von Fuchshaim" ("The Advenof a Strange Vagabond named Melchior Sternfels von Fuchshaim," 1669).
