Family of violin makers at Cremona. The most famous was GIUSEPPE ANTONIO, 1683-1745, also called del Gesù, because of the symbol I.H.S. frequently found on his instruments.-His uncle, ANDREA, whose instruments were made from 1650 to 1695, was a pupil of Niccolo Amati.-His sons, GIUSEPPE and PIETRO, produced violins 1690-1730.
