serous (ser us)

[OF. sereux, F. séreux = Sp. Pg. seroso = It. sieroso, Bland, a subacid liquor made out of the ser serous part of IMG:content-0676.png:[blocks in formation] Serous liquid or fluid, any liquid formed in the body similar to blood-serum, such as that which moistens rous membranes, or as the cep halo rachidian fluid, or as that which accumulates in ti ues or cavities in dropsy. But the liquid part of unco a gula ted blood is called plasma, and the contents of lymphatic ve els are called lymph, and the latter word is used in application to other serous liquids, especially when they are normal in quantity and quality. - Serous membrane.
