(Sax. dor, Gr. Svpa.) In Architecture, the gate or entrance of a house. The door frame is the surrounding case into and out whereof the door shuts and opens. It consists of two upright side pieces or posts and a head, generally fixed together by mortices and tenons, and wrought, rebated, and beaded. [s. 376]
