pl. The Fringe-myrtle fam., an order of plants, alliance Myrtales. This is a small group of shrubby plants only found in Australia. They are nearly allied to Myrtacer, but may be distinguished from them by their heath-like aspect and by their more or le pappose calyx. Cham'ærops, n . ( Bot . ) A gen, of trees, ord. Palmacea , having fan-shaped leaves, and le exclusively tropical than other palms. fifth in 1746. D. 1740. After his death the "Cyclopædia" formed the basis of the one edited by Dr. Rees, sufficiently well known.
