[NL. Cf. Bagrus.] A genus of catfishes, typical of the subfamily Bagariina. The first appearance of Siluroids is indicated by some fo il remains in the tertiary deposits of the highlands of Padang, in Sumatra, where Pseudo trop i us and Bagarius, types well represented in the living fauna, have been found.
