Olympias

(-lim'pe-as,)daughter of Neoptolemus, king of Epirus, m. 357 B. c., Philip, king of Macedon,by whom she became mother of Alexander the Great. Divorced by her husband, she acquired authority after the acce ion of Alexander, and after putting to death Cleopatra, 2d wife of Philip, was herself murdered by Cas sander, 316 B. c. [s. 663]
