(from Mexican, chocolatl) is a paste made from the kernels of the cacao-tree, and combined with sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, or other flavouring substance. It is also made into a drink by di olving CHROMATIC, it in boiling water or milk. It was use a in Mexico long before the arrival of the Spaniards, and it is now CHROMO-LITHOGRAPHY, commonly used on the continent, while cacao, a preparation from the same fruit, is more popular in Britain.
