[ paraglo a (par-a-glos'ä), n.; pl. para glo æ (-6). [NL., One of a pair of appendages, right and left, of the ligula, placed usually on each side of the glo a, whence the name. In this nomenclature the appendages of the ligula are the single and median glo a, a pair of para glo æ, and the labial palpi. Para glo æ occur in many insects of different orders; in some hymen opters they are long blade-like organs, acting as palps.
