ABMU LOKOJA

[s. 420] : A town in the district of Gando, Nigeria, W. Africa, situated on the right bank of the Niger, above the confluence with the Benue. It was occupied by the British in 1865, and a strong force of troops is kept there now. The climate is le unhealthf ul than at the mouth of the Niger. The CMS has a mi ion station there (1865), with (1903) 2 mi ionaries, 1 with his wife; 2 native workers, 1 outstation, 1 chapel, 1 day school, and 179 profe ed Christians, of whom 27 are communicants. ch076.xhtml l 420
